Sister Robert Angela Fleischman

MAPLE MOUNT, Ky. – Sister Robert Angela Fleischmann, 94, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at Mount Saint Joseph. She was in her 73rd year of religious life. She was received into the novitiate September 8, 1929, made temporary vows on March 19,1932, and perpetual vows on March 19, 1935.

Sister Robert Angela, baptized Lorena Philomena Fleischmann, was the daughter of the late Robert Joseph and Mary Ann Fischer Fleischmann of Poseyville, INd. The family later moved to Browns Valley, where she grew up.

An educator for 46 years, she taught at St. Charles School, Bardwell (1936-38), St. Elizabeth School, Curdsville (1938-39), St. Alphonsus School, St. Joseph, (1955-59), St. Paul School Fleischmann, OSU Princeton (1955), St. Romuald School, Hardinsburg, (1976-78), and many schools in the Archdiocese of Louisville. She also worked in outreach ministry in Louisville for 14 years. She retired to the Motherhouse in 1992.

Survivors include one sister, Rita Fahrendorf, Owensboro; five brothers, Hubert Fleischmann, Kankakee, Ill., Urban Fleischmann, Union, Mo., Paul Fleischmann, Grass Valley, Calif., Melvin Fleischmann, Owensboro, and Brother Conrad Fleischmann of the Abbey of Gethsemani, Trappist, Ky.; nieces and nephews, and the members of her religious community.

Services were held Wednesday, June 25, at Mount Saint Joseph Chapel, Maple Mount, Ky., with burial in the convent cemetery at Maple Mount.
