In 2008, Ursuline Sisters Annalita Lancaster and Vicki Cravens – then the director of Archives – worked together to produce an attractive booklet called “Divine Light: The Story of the Windows and Appointments of the Motherhouse Chapel of the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph.” Sister Annalita, a former congregational leader (1972-80) wrote the stories and descriptions in the booklet, which features color photos of the stained glass windows and other holy items found in the Chapel.
The 48-page booklet details the story behind each of the beautiful windows in the Motherhouse Chapel, including backgrounds on the saints depicted in the windows, the significance of their actions, and the meaning of any religious symbols. It also includes information on the people who made the windows possible.
The booklet also spotlights the appointments in the chapel, such as the altar, organ, baptismal font, Stations of the Cross, etc. The photographs in the booklet were taken by John Dunham. A list of the artists who created the pieces is included in the back of the booklet. There are still free copies available in the Archives department.
The Motherhouse Chapel is usually open for visitors during the day and for Mass.
In 2024, as part of the 150th anniversary celebration of the Ursuline Sisters arriving in Maple Mount, Sister Mary Timothy Bland narrated a video about the Chapel windows which is available here.
