Sister Elizabeth Ann Ray, OSU

Sister Elizabeth Ann Ray, OSUSister Elizabeth Ann Ray, 98, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint   Joseph, died Nov. 16, 2008, at Mount Saint Joseph, in her 79th year of religious life. She was a native of Rhodelia in Meade County. An educator for 54 years, Sister Elizabeth Ann was much loved by all the sisters. She worked quietly in service to the Lord, and always had the best interests in mind for all the sisters.
She taught at St. Anthony School, Browns Valley, 1936-45, and was principal and teacher at Precious Blood School, Owensboro, 1963-69. She taught at St. Joseph School, Central City, in 1931. She also taught in Fairfield, Louisville, and in Missouri. For 32 years she was a teacher and principal in New Mexico. She served on the Motherhouse Archives staff from 1985 until her retirement in 1997.
Survivors include a sister, Irene Whelan of Ekron, nieces and nephews, and the members of her religious community.
