Year in Pictures 2013

As we say goodbye to 2013, we are reminded of what a great year it was and all the blessings we experienced here at the Mount. Check out our Year in Pictures for 2013. God has been good!

  1. Brother Gabriel Monarch, O.H.

How proud I am to have been born and raised in Owensboro and so closely connected with the Ursulines who taught me in my first eight grades of Catholic education. Sister James Miriam, Sister Agnes Catherine, Sister George Ann, Sister Rosita…my great aunt was Sister Mary Florence (Washington or Monarch) and my first cousin is Sister Jacinta Powers….oh the Monarch’s were (and still are) so well known in the Catholic Community…fond memories of the Corpus Christi processions…we lived on Fourth Street (Sts. Joseph and Paul Parish) with Msgr. Braun as pastor…I served my first Mass in 1949 with Father Aloysius Powers as celebrant…I remember so vividly being confirmed by Bishop Cotton…first three years of high school at St. Maur’s Benedictine Prep School…Senior year at Catholic High (1961)…came to California and was a banker for thirty years and in 1991 entered The Brothers of St. John of God with Solemn Vows in 2001…hospital administration…I try and get back to Owensboro every year or two…this city indeed sits on HOLY GROUND…once an Owensboroan always an Owensboroan…God bless all you Ursulines and the Mount.

Brother Gabriel Monarch, O.H. Family and friends still call me Bill
