“One faith-filled girl can change the world.”

What is Y-DOSA?

Y-DOSA stands for Young Daughters of Saint Angela. It is an organization for young women ages 11-18 who are interested in learning more about Saint Angela Merici and the faith and values she taught young women that have been passed down to the present day. We also do service projects to help others.

Y-DOSA Mission Statement:

We declare ourselves as young daughters of Saint Angela Merici. As members of Y-DOSA, we learn about Saint Angela and how to follow in her footsteps. We strive to become more educated, innovative and daring as we reach out in service. As we acknowledge the need of gospel values in today’s world, we strive to carry on Saint Angela’s mission, adapting to the needs of the times and trusting in her intercession and the infinite mercy of God.

Who was Saint Angela?

Born between 1470 and 1475 in Desenzano. Italy, Angela Merici was a farm girl. She had at least three brothers and two sisters, some of whom died very young. Angela and her siblings listened intently to their father as he read to them the lives of the saints. Angela aspired to be a saint and spent much time in prayer. While still a teen, or perhaps at the age of 20, Angela had a vision in which she learned that her deceased sister was in heaven and that she herself would found a company of women. On Nov. 25, 1535, she founded the Company of Saint Ursula, known throughout the world today as the Ursuline Sisters. Find out more about Angela at the Y-DOSA meetings!

If you are a girl 11-18 years old and you’re interested in Y-DOSA, come to a meeting and see if it’s for you. No special invitation is needed.
