Sweaters

While at a meeting in Owensboro on Jan. 24, Ursuline Sister Amelia Stenger talked with a woman who works with Owensboro Area Shelter and Information Services, the shelter that helps abused women who are trying to make a new start. She told Sister Amelia that many of the women who come to the shelter are lacking sweaters.

Sister Amelia returned to the Ursuline Motherhouse at Maple Mount that day and told the sisters what she learned. She asked if they had a spare sweater they could donate. Within 24 hours, the Ursuline Sisters gathered between 75 and 100 sweaters. On the afternoon of Jan. 25, Sister Amelia loaded nine bags of sweaters into a van and drove them to OASIS so the women could have them in time for the chilly weekend.

That is such a wonderful thing to do…sharing sweaters!! Ursulines are the most thoughtful and generous group of people I’ve been privileged to meet in my entire life!! Love and hugs to all of you…and an extra one to Sister Amelia. I will NEVER forget a reassuring hand on my shoulder when I needed it!! Blessings to you all!!!
