Sister Pat Rhoten shares her love of “The Singer” during Lent

As we enter Holy Week, we continue with the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph sharing a favorite book they read during Lent. We call this feature “How We Observe Lent.” Our contribution today is from Sister Pat Rhoten.

“For Lent, I love to read the book The Singer. It is about the life and death and resurrection of Jesus. It’s not blank verse and it’s not poetry, but it’s more poetry than anything. The sequel to that is The Song. It tells of the writings of Saint Paul and his life. The third and final book is The Finale on the book of Revelation. I have yet to get through that. I loaned The Singer  to someone, but if I get it back, I will read it again. All three books are written by Calvin Miller.”

Hello Sister Pat ! This is Greg Nelson but you always just called me Nelson in a loving way . You and Sister Catherine were my favorite teachers at Saint Thomas Moore in the mid sixties and beginning of the 70s. I just wanted to say hello and thank you for all you did for me and still do for me as I remember all that you taught me, especially to “stick to my guns”. Once again thank You and I truly love you
