Our next jubilarian Sister to honor is Sister Mary Henning, a native of Axtel, Ky., who is celebrating 60 years of religious life. Helping others develop a love for music and liturgy has been a staple of Sister Mary’s life. Congratulations Sister Mary!
She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Brescia College in 1969, and a bachelor’s degree in music from St. Mary of the Woods College, Terre Haute, Ind., in 1978. She earned a master’s degree in music from Northwestern University in 1979. She also earned a diploma in Liturgy from Saint Joseph’s College, Rensselaer, Ind., in 1998.
Sister Mary’s ministries have been entirely in Kentucky. She was a teacher at St. Edward School, Jeffersontown (1969-76), a music teacher at Mount Saint Joseph Academy (1979-81), a music minister at Blessed Mother Parish, Owensboro (1995-97) and an associate professor of music at Brescia College/University for 32 years (1981-2013). Since 2013 she has served as director of worship and liturgy at the Motherhouse, and as director of postulants (2013-16).
