The next Ursuline Sister we honor in her jubilee year is Sister Marie Carol Cecil, a native of Howardstown, Ky., who is celebrating her 75th year of religious life! Congratulations Sister Marie Carol!
Sister Marie Carol is always eager to help those in need, and a great lover of the many children she taught for 45 years. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1966 from Brescia College, and earned a master’s degree in elementary education from Western Kentucky University in 1973. She was a teacher beginning with St. Paul School, Louisville (1952-53), St. Paul School, Princeton, Ky. (1953-55), St. Joseph School, Raywick, Ky., (1955) and St. Mary School, Nebraska City, Neb., (1955-64). She taught at St. Romuald School, Hardinsburg, Ky., (1964-70), St. James School, Louisville (1970-79), St. Angela Education Center, Louisville (1979-80), St. Angela Merici School, Florissant, Mo., (1980-84) and Blessed Mother/St. Angela Merici School, Owensboro, Ky., (1984-97). Sister Marie Carol was an AmeriCorps worker in Owensboro from 1997-2000 and provided clerical assistance and transportation at the Motherhouse in Maple Mount until 2016. She is retired and active in the Powerhouse of Prayer.
