Sister Catherine Marie Lauterwasser celebrates 70 years as an Ursuline Sister

Our next Ursuline Sister to honor is Sister Catherine Marie Lauterwasser, who is celebrating 70 years as a Sister! She is a native of Owensboro, Ky., a lifelong learner who is a lover of music and history. Congratulations Sister Catherine Marie!
She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Brescia College in 1968, and a master’s degree in music from The Catholic University of America in 1978. She taught music at St. Bernard Academy, Nebraska City, Neb. (1958-59) and at Seven Holy Founders School, Affton, Mo. (1959-64).
In Kentucky, Sister Catherine Marie was a classroom teacher at St. Margaret Mary School, Louisville (1957-58) and a music teacher there from 1964-71. She was a music and classroom teacher at St. Romuald High School, Hardinsburg (1971-73). She served at Mount Saint Joseph Academy, Maple Mount, as music teacher (1973-79) and was the last principal (1980-83). She was a teacher at Trinity High School, Whitesville, (1979-80) and a teacher, computer teacher and music instructor at Mary Carrico School, Knottsville (1983-98).
At the Motherhouse, she assisted in archives (1998-2006, 2017-20), served as assistant local community life coordinator (2005-2010) and as treasurer (2008-17). She is retired and active in the Powerhouse of Prayer.
