Record crowd enjoys Quilt Bingo

For the first time since it began in 2019 (with a hiatus in 2020-21), Quilt Bingo hosted by the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph was sold out! Nearly 200 people signed up for the Sept. 8, 2024, event held in Maple Hall at Maple Mount, Ky. Around 40 volunteers were also in attendance, and more than 40 lucky people won quilts. When there were multiple winners of a bingo game, which happened often, every winner chose a quilt. Quilts both large and small were displayed along two sides of the gym. There were $1 bingo games for small/medium quilts and $2 games for large quilts. Some attendees who didn’t win quilts were able to purchase them after bingo was over.

In honor of the Ursuline Sisters’ 150th Anniversary year, attendees filled out trivia questionnaires that focused on the history of the Ursuline congregation at Maple Mount. Out of roughly 75 entries, seven players got every answer correct. Bonnie Drury’s name was drawn as the winner, and she was able to pick out her favorite small/medium-sized quilt.

There was a mad rush at the registration tables when the doors opened at noon. Attendees were checked in by Sister Judith Nell Riney, seated at left, Sister Ann McGrew center, and Sister Ann Patrice Cecil.

A full house was on hand in Maple Hall. They came to enjoy lunch and to have fun playing bingo for a chance to win their choice of over 100 quilts.

Pamela Price of Owensboro was excited to pick out another quilt after winning twice! This large quilt hanging along the back wall was called “Crosses and Prayers for You.”
