Sister Betsy Moyer tells us that “Mary, Did You Know?” by Mark Lowry is her most “Cherished Christmas Carol.” Here she tells us why.
“This song sends a warmth within as it reflects on the greatness of the Child that Mary has yet to realize and understand. The way the lyrics are set, it pre-empts (anticipates) Jesus’ life of loving service. The movement/melody of the song is solemn with an endearing edge to it.
“The movement of the music, rise and fall; intensity, is awesome. It pulls you in. One of the best presentations of the song I have heard in a long time is the version featuring Jordan Smith by Tommee Profitt (below). So, I ask self and you all, Did you know?”
