Called to be a saint

There was a lot of excitement and publicity about the Catholic Church this weekend as two popes were canonized.  I heard a theologian say that the purpose of the church is to produce saints.  We have in the example of Saint John XXIII and Saint John Paul II great mentors of discipleship stepping out in courage and who have influenced so many both Catholics and people of all faiths.  I do have to admit that I rarely think that the purpose of the Church is to produce saints.  However, when I look around me and acknowledge that my path is scattered with generous, faithful and holy men and women almost daily.  Are you open to being a saint?  To be a saint is to be the person God calls you to be.  Live with conviction and gentleness. Your life will speak to many!

I share with you a quote of Saint John XXIII that inspired and challenges me: “Consult not your fears but your hope and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it still possible for  you to do.”  –Saint John XXIII

Please join me in praying for the whole Church through the intercesson of these two new saints.

Sister Martha, this is a lovely message. Saint John XX111’s statement is one I am going to write down and keep with me.

Hope you are having a great day!
