“Aw shucks” — Sisters, staff and friends prepare 3,000 ears of corns

The Ursuline Sisters, staff and friends were busy July 31 and Aug. 1, 2023, shucking and cutting 3,000 ears of sweet corn fresh from the farm. The corn is blanched, cut off the cob and frozen so the Sisters and staff can enjoy it year round. Here are some pictures.

All the corn shucking and cutting was completed on the morning of Aug. 1, but there was plenty of processing to do. Here, Food Service staff Cody Cravens and Charlotte Stelmach cut corn off the cob to prepare for freezing.
