Associates Day brings together Ursulines, Associates and guests

More than 70 women and men assembled in Maple Hall at Mount Saint Joseph for Associates and Sisters Day on June 21, 2025. The crowd included eight Associates affiliated with the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville. One of them, Jane Cruthirds, inspired everyone with her “Angela: A Pilgrim of Hope” keynote presentation. She talked about her journey as an Ursuline Associate, as a teacher at a Catholic School, and her actual journey to Italy to see some of Angela Merici’s sacred sites.

Three others from Louisville – Lisa Steiner, Theresa Butler, and Patricia Hagan – gave a panel discussion about how their Associate group became its own entity.

The day also included prayers, a trivia game, and a memorial video, as well as an optional tour of the Heritage Room. A delicious lunch consisted of chicken salad, fruit, chips, rice crispy bars, and cookies. During the announcement of Associate anniversaries, Associate Lois Bell was recognized for being an Associate for 35 years.

The highlight of the event was the commitment ceremony for two new Ursuline Associates: Amy Fogle Stiff of Owensboro, Ky., and Gayle Sims Bogard of West Virginia. They were accompanied by their contact companions Sister Cheryl Clemons (Amy) and Sister Suzanne Sims (Gayle). Stiff recently joined the staff of the Ursuline Sisters as the first lay director of Local Community Life.

Here are some photos from the day.
