Six Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph and an Ursuline Associate took part in the Daviess County/Owensboro CROP Hunger Walk on Oct. 16. The walk helps to raise funds for the hunger organizations in the area. The Ursuline Sisters donated to the cause for each sister who walked. Sisters Judith Nell Riney, Mary Henning, Elaine Burke, Catherine Barber, Nancy Murphy and Eva Boone participated in the walk. Associate Martha House also participated with some of her friends.
Nationally the CROP Hunger Walk is sponsored by the Church World Service, a cooperative ministry of 37 Christian communions working together to eradicate hunger and poverty and promote peace and justice among the world’s most vulnerable people. The walkers began at Owensboro’s Fisher Park with a goal to walk to Shifley Park along the Greenbelt. Making the round trip was three miles.
