Sisters at the Motherhouse were busy stapling squares of cloth to sheets of paper beginning Oct. 19, as they helped to prepare for the “Shine Like Stars” annual appeal mailing.
Following the success of last year’s appeal, “Patchwork of Hope,” this year friends and supporters of the Ursuline Sisters will again be sent a square of cloth they can return with a donation to help build a star quilt with the theme “Shine Like Stars.” Those words from the book of Daniel are part of the Ursuline Coat of Arms, “Those who lead others to justice shall shine like the stars for all eternity.”
The sisters are working hard to help prepare the annual appeal letters, with all the revenue from the appeal going to support the ministries of the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph. The sisters minister in eight states, Washington, D.C., and Chile, South America, serving as educators, parish ministers, counselors, nurses and in many other ways that God calls them.
As the fabric squares are returned, they will be pieced together into a quilt that will be displayed on the altar during Friday adoration. The sisters will pray for all of the wonderful people who help support them.
Be on the lookout for your letter soon, and be a part of the effort to “Shine Like Stars.”
