Sister Mary Regina Boone, OSU

Sister Regina Boone, OSUSister Mary Regina Boone, 92, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph, died April 29, 2010, at Mount Saint Joseph, in her 73rd year of religious life.
         The New Haven native was an educator for 47 years, noted for instilling a love for math in her students. She was an avid reader, enjoyed saying the rosary, loved her family, and was always grateful for any kindness shown to her.
         She taught at St. Joseph School, Central City (1941-42), St. Columba School, Louisville (1942-54), and St. Romuald High School, Hardinsburg (teacher 1954-65 and 1969-73, principal 1973-74). She was also principal at Mary Carrico High School, Knottsville (1965-67), and Trinity High School, Whitesville (1967-69). She served at Lourdes High School, Nebraska City, Neb. (1974-79), Mount Saint Joseph Academy, Maple Mount (1979-83), and Brescia College, where she taught mathematics (1983-88). From 1983-93, she served as director of hospitality at the Mount Saint Joseph Guest House.
         Survivors include seven sisters, Sister Joseph Angela Boone, OSU, Owensboro; Margie Johnson, Bardstown; Cecilia Johnson, Mary Jean Hagan, and Teresa Thompson, all of New Haven; Josephine Dworzan, Orange, Calif.; and Catherine Keene, Louisville; nieces and nephews and the members of her religious community.
