Sister Mary Lucy Mattingly

MAPLE MOUNT – Sister Mary Lucy Mattingly, 94, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph, died May 25, 2003, at Mount Saint Joseph, in her 78th year of religious life. The Loretta native ministered at St. Peter of Alcantara in Stanley, Blessed Mother in Owensboro, St. William in Knottsville, Immaculate Conception in Hawesville and St. Martin in Rome, Ky. She also served in Earlington and Central City, in the archdiocese of Louisville and in Nebraska. She retired to the Motherhouse in 1961.

Survivors include a brother, Joseph C. Mattingly of Fern Creek; several nieces and nephews; and the members of her religious community. The funeral is at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Mount Saint Joseph chapel, with burial in the convent cemetery at Maple Mount. A Wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, also in the chapel, where visitation begins at 4 p.m.

Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.
