Sister Agnes Cecilia Speak, 100, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph, died Dec. 15 at Mount Saint Joseph, in her 80th year of religious life. She was a native of Irvington.
She was a housekeeper much of her life, beginning in 1932. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and a deeply prayerful woman. She served at St. Charles Convent, Bardwell, Ky., (1932-33), St. Bernard Convent in Clementsville, Ky., (1933-37), St. Anthony Convent, Browns Valley, Ky., (1937-39), Sacred Heart Academy, Waterflow, N.M., (1939-45), St. Rose Convent, Blanco, N.M., (1945-46), St. Catherine Convent, New Haven, Ky., (1947-48), St. Mary Home, Owensboro, Ky., (1950-52), St. William Convent, Knottsville, Ky., (1952-53), St. Angela Convent in Louisville, Ky., (1953-72), and Blessed Mother Convent, Owensboro, (1972-1995). She served at Mount Saint Joseph in the dairy (1946-47), and laundry (1948-50). She retired to the Motherhouse in 1995.
Survivors include nieces and nephews and the members of her religious community.
