Community Days 2012

All but a handful of the 151 Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph returned to Maple Mount July 11-13 for the annual Community Days. The sisters shared ideas about their future and had a chance to relax and reminisce. On the evening of July 12, the sisters gathered in the dining room to enjoy the first Dinner Theatre at Mount Saint Joseph, a series of four plays performed by the sisters highlighting the 100 years of the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph.

Sister Pam Mueller was the master of ceremonies for the night. The first act was the Ad-Libbers, made up of Sisters Fran Wilhelm, Elaine Burke, Ann McGrew and Rosemary Keough, along with their prayer partner, Sister Annalita Lancaster. They performed “Disguise Spies in a Pickle” to address the first 25 years of Mount Saint Joseph, 1912-1936. The second act was performed by Remnant Plus (Sisters Rose Jean Powers, Vivian Bowles and Helena Fischer) called “A Little Bit of Heaven between a Flood and the Vietnam War.” It covered from 1937-1962.

Act three was performed by the Lydia Ladies (Sisters Joseph Angela Boone, Barbara Jean Head, Monica Seaton and Michele Morek) and titled “The Way We Were,” including 1963-1987. The final act chronicled the last 25 years, and was performed from the newsroom of MSJ-KY by Sisters Kathleen Condry, Pat Lynch, Helen Smith and Betsy Moyer.

The event was coordinated by Sister Mary Celine Weidenbenner and the members of the Social Committee, Sisters Pam, Joan Walz and Mary Agnes VonderHaar. Here are pictures from the evening.

How wonderful it is to see the joyful sisters at play! I enjoyed the time I spent with you quite a few years ago and I think of you often. I pray that God continues to bless you and prosper you in the great work that you do. Many congratulations to the Jubilarians, too!

It looks like a lot of fun recalling old memories. I especially love all the pictures especially of my former classmates: Sister Michele Morek, Sister Rose Jean, Sister Sheila Anne and Sister Sara Marie

Seeing all the smiling faces…that was the best part! It’s always good when family comes together. Since the production was such a success, maybe you would consider re-producing it for the 2013 Alumnae Days.

Reading about your retreat and looking at all these great pictures was a wonderful way to start my day. Looks like everyone had a marvelous time.
