In lieu of their annual picnic, the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph put on the “Mount Crafts & Raffle” on the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017. A steady crowd was on hand in the gymnasium to shop for quilts and other crafts, play bingo, and enjoy Old Hickory barbecue for lunch and takeout. Many put their name into the grand raffle drawing which took place at 3 p.m. Several cash prizes, including $10,000, were raffled off to winners in Henderson, Ky.; Louisville, Ky. (2), Owensboro, Ky. (2), and Marietta, Ga., and the beautiful embroidered quilt went to a lucky winner in Granite City, Ill. The raffle and craft sales will benefit the retired Ursuline Sisters.
Prior to the raffle, an announcement was made that the Ursuline Sisters will partner with Studio Slant to host the Owensboro East Bridge Art Festival at Mount Saint Joseph on the weekend of Sept. 8-9, 2018. (Mark your calendars!) It usually features over 75 artists selling their wares, as well as art competitions, music and children’s activities. The event’s new name is to be determined.
