Born December 10, 1897, in Clementsville, Ky., Ursula was the daughter of Henry Alfred and Cordelia Clements Wethington. She was one of the first students to enroll at St. Bernard School in Clementsville, opened by the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph. When she was 17 years of age, Ursula entered the novitiate at Mount Saint Joseph. She received the Ursuline habit and the name Sister Rose Angela on March 25, 1916.
Sister Rose Angela was first assigned to St. Martin in Rome, Ky., in 1916. Her next assignment was Holy Cross, Ky. In 1918, she was missioned to Sacred Heart School in Wynot, Neb., for seven years. She returned to Kentucky and was assigned to Cloverport, Jeffersontown, Stanley, Browns Valley, Cloverport again, Fairfield, Stanley again, back to Cloverport, Central City and finally to Paul, Neb. At all schools she served as music teacher and choir director.
Sister Rose Angela retired from teaching in 1942 and resided at St. Angela Home in Louisville. She spent periods of time at St. Joseph Infirmary receiving treatment for a serious blood disorder. The physician’s prognosis gave no hope of recovery. She received blood transfusions regularly until her death on October 15, 1946. Sister’s remains are buried in the convent cemetery.
