Mary Naomi Aull was born December 30, 1923, to Michael Xavier “Harry” and Mary Pauline Mattingly Aull. She was the fourth of 15 children. They were: Theresa Elizabeth, Thomasina, Margaret Ann (Sister Margaret Joseph OSU), Mildred (Sister Marie Michael CP), William Guy, Robert Eugene, Joyce Marie, James Leo, Beverly, Joseph Allen, Joseph Harry, Anna Carolyn. Two children died in early infancy.
Her faith journey began with baptism at St. William Church in Knottsville, Ky., on January 27, 1924. Later she was confirmed in 1932 at St. William Church.
Sister Naomi (formerly Sister Mary Benigna) was a prayerful, hard-working Sister, known for her cordial nature. She graduated from Brescia College (now University), Owensboro, Ky., in 1965.
She taught for 32 years throughout Kentucky and in Nebraska, New Mexico, and Missouri. She provided outreach for St. Boniface Parish and Schuhmann Social Service Center, both in Louisville, Ky., before retiring to the Motherhouse in 2002, where she was active in internal ministry and in the Powerhouse of Prayer.
Sister Naomi Aull, 99, died Friday, September 29, 2023, at Mount Saint Joseph in her 80th year of religious life.
The funeral Mass was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Mount Saint Joseph. Burial was in the convent cemetery.
