Mildred Louise, the second child of 11, was born March 23, 1925, at Wilhelmina, Mo., to James Eugene and Virgie Lee Horrell Knott. Her faith journey began with baptism at Sacred Heart Church, Wilhelmina, on March 29, 1925.
In August 1930, her formal education began at Wilhelmina Public School and continued through eighth grade there. She then attended Glennonville Public School, staffed by MSJ Ursulines for grades 9-12. Following graduation, she took a position in St. Louis for four years.
On September 7, 1947, she and nine other young ladies entered the MSJ novitiate to begin preparation for the Ursuline life. On August 14, 1948, she was invested in the Ursuline habit and received the name Sister Mary Jamesetta.
Shortly after professing temporary vows in 1951, Sister was assigned to grades 1 and 2 at St. Romuald School, Hardinsburg, Ky. Other Ursuline-staffed Kentucky schools where she served in the next 24 years were located in Fancy Fann, Mayfield, Howardstown, Owensboro, Paducah, and Radcliff, along with Florissant, Mo. During these summers, she continued her own education at Brescia College, Owensboro, earning a BS in history with an elementary education minor.
In 1973, she was assigned at the Motherhouse as Director of Food Services for seven years and to health care for six years. In 1989, she went to Marion, Ky., where she worked for two years and then to a home for retired priests, the Bishop David Apartments, in Louisville as assistant director.
On October 8, 2001, she retired to Mount Saint Joseph Motherhouse to work in the Archives. After a long illness of congestive heart failure, Sister died October 22, 2011, in Saint Joseph Villa. Following the Mass of Resurrection, October 25, 2011, Sister’s remains rest in Mount Saint Joseph cemetery.
