Born at Sturgis, Ky., on April 21, 1885, Tillie was the daughter of Barney and Mary Susanne Lilly Logsdon. At the age of 48, she entered the novitiate at Mount Saint Joseph in January 1933. She received the Ursuline habit and the name Sister Marie Paschal on August 14, 1933.
Sister Marie Paschal was a registered nurse before she entered. After her novitiate period, she attended the Missouri Chiropractic College in St. Louis for two years. Her assignments through the years included Mount Saint Joseph, St. Mary’s Home in Owensboro, and Sacred Heart Academy in Waterflow, N.M., where she spent seven years tending to the students’ health needs. She also had an apothecary shop filled with various medications. Sister Marie Paschal returned to Mount Saint Joseph in 1948 and continued her nursing and chiropractic skills.
On November 5, 1954, Sister Marie Paschal was admitted to Mercy Hospital in Owensboro with a fractured hip. This later confined her to the infirmary at Mount Saint Joseph where she was a bed patient the remainder of her life. After months of what seemed complete unconsciousness, Sister Marie Paschal died on September 10, 1966. Msgr. Albert Thompson, chaplain, celebrated the funeral Mass. Three other priests were in the sanctuary. Sister Marie Paschal’s remains are buried in the convent cemetery. Among her survivors was her Ursuline sister, Sister Uriel.
