Annie Laura was the daughter of Joseph and Catherine Elder Weise of Cloverport, Ky. Her early education was in the public schools of Breckinridge County. Annie attended Mount Saint Joseph Academy for one year of schooling after which she entered the novitiate at Mount Saint Joseph. On November 21, 1912, Annie received the Ursuline habit and the name Sister Fidelis.
For the first seven years Sister Fidelis served the school missions as housekeeper, then she taught school in numerous missions of the Owensboro Diocese. She also taught in Nebraska, and in the Archdiocese of Louisville. During her 44 years of teaching there was only one year that Sister Fidelis taught a single grade. Repeatedly her assignments were multiple grades through the primary, intermediate, and secondary years. Her last assignment was to the convent at Precious Blood School in Owensboro where she served the teaching Sisters.
In November 1970, a fractured hip received from a fall brought Sister Fidelis back to Mount Saint Joseph for the remainder of her earthly life. Her next 15 years were spent in the infirmary where she lived a peaceful and simple life. Sister Fidelis died on July 25, 1985. Two days later, Father Bernard Barnes, MSJ chaplain, and Father Bill Hartlage, a former pupil of hers, concelebrated the Funeral Mass. Sister Fidelis was laid to rest in the convent cemetery. Preceding her in death was her Ursuline sister, Sister Mary Frances, who died in 1920.
