Nannie was the daughter of Benjamin and Ada VanMetea Poole of St. Lawrence, Kentucky, born May 22, 1878. The family moved to Owensboro and became active members of St. Paul Church. At the age of 28, Nannie entered the novitiate at Mount Saint Joseph in January 1907. She received the Ursuline habit and the name Sister Anacletus on May 31, 1907.
Except for the 1907-1908 school year at St. James in Louisville, Sister Anacletus spent her brief Ursuline life at Mount Saint Joseph as assistant infirmarian.
She became ill in 1914, and was found dead of a lung hemorrhage in the early morning of July 10, 1915. Father Louis Hilary Spalding, chaplain, celebrated the funeral Mass the following day. In his sermon, Father Spalding spoke of Sister Anacletus’ cheerfulness during her time of illness. Sister’s remains are buried in the convent cemetery.
