Teen-agers from the youth groups at St. Gerard Catholic Church in Lansing, Mich., and St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea, Mich., stayed at the Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center on July 25-29, 2016, while heading into Owensboro each day to work with Habitat for Humanity projects.
Eight adults accompanied 35 teens on the mission trip, said Mike Simon, one of the adult chaperones. This is the second year for this group, who learned about Owensboro and Maple Mount from a parishioner who formally served at St. John Catholic Church in Fenton, Mich. The group from Fenton has been coming to the Mount for 19 years, and made its yearly visit July 18-22.
On July 28, five of the St. Gerard and St. Mary teens stayed behind to do some work at Maple Mount. Here are a few of their photos.
