Lent Remembrance: Sister Marie Bosco Wathen gets a Lent lesson in public school

Sister Marie Bosco Wathen is celebrating 80 years as an Ursuline Sister this year, but her memories of her childhood are still sharp. Here is her Lent Remembrance.

“I went to St. Charles High School (near Lebanon, Ky., in Marion County) which was a public school. There were not enough lay teachers so many Ursulines taught there. Even though it was a public school, everyone except one student was Catholic. We were allowed to gather in a large room and have a priest come to give a talk about Lent, and we even got to go to Mass.”
