Joyce Vance retired from Mount Saint Joseph on May 17, 2012 after 26 years in various jobs. Joyce began at the Mount in July 1985 as a cook in the diet kitchen, then she got a job working in the kitchen at the Retreat Center. In December 1990 she went to work as a housekeeper in the Center, but when the Center was renovated, she went to work in the Motherhouse laundry. When Saint Joseph Villa opened in 2002, she began working there in the laundry and eventually moved into housekeeping.
