Ursuline Sister George Mary Hagan kept the largest crowd yet for an “Evening with an Ursuline” both informed and entertained on Nov. 3, 2015, with her discussion of “Catholic Pioneers: From Maryland to Kentucky.”
The gathering had to be moved to Conference Room A of the Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center to accommodate the crowd. Sister George Mary, a native of New Haven, Ky., is a board member of Maryland to Kentucky and Beyond Inc., which traces the lineage of the Catholics who migrated from Maryland to Kentucky in the 18th century to eventually establish the Diocese of Bardstown. Some of those descendants eventually migrated to western Kentucky and helped to form the Diocese of Owensboro in 1937.
The next “Evening with an Ursuline” is Dec. 1, with dinner at 5 and the program at 5:30 p.m. Sister Ann McGrew will discuss “The Art of Waiting.” Here are some photos from the Nov. 3 evening.
