Debbie Rafferty retires after 28 years

Debbie Rafferty had a job frying fish at Diamond Lake Resort in 1988 when a friend suggested she apply for an opening as a nurse assistant at Mount Saint Joseph.

Debbie began Sept. 14, 1988, helping tend to the sisters needs in that role until 2001, when she earned certification as a Kentucky Medication Aide, ordering and dispensing medicine for the sisters in long-term care. For more than 28 years, she has been identified by her kindness, sense of humor and loyalty to the Ursuline Sisters.

On Jan. 17, 2017, Debbie’s friends got to honor her at lunch for her retirement. Current and former employees of Saint Joseph Villa came, and Sister Alicia Coomes drove an hour from her ministry to celebrate with her former co-worker.
