City Proclamation

Sister Kathleen Dueber accepts the proclamation from Mayor Ron Payne.

The Owensboro (Ky.) City Commission proclaimed Oct. 12 as “Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph Day” during its Oct. 2 meeting at City Hall, in honor of the 100 years the sisters have served as an independent community.

Mayor Ron Payne read the proclamation and presented it to Sister Kathleen Dueber, a member of the leadership Council. Council member Sister Nancy Murphy also attended the meeting.

Prior to reading the proclamation, Payne said the community and he owed the Ursuline Sisters a great deal. Payne was taught by the Ursulines at St. Joseph and Paul School, and then again at Brescia College (now University).

Sister Kathleen Dueber offers a few remarks following the presentation of the proclamation.

Sister Kathleen addressed those gathered for the meeting, saying how glad the sisters are to be part of Owensboro and Daviess County, and that she looked forward to support from the community “for the next 100 years.”
