Father James Walker, a priest of the Diocese of Gallup, N.M., led 29 Ursuline Sisters on retreat the week of March 9-14 in the St. Ursula Community Room at the Motherhouse.
Father Walker was a teacher and professor at colleges and universities across the country for many years, when later in his life he felt a calling to the priesthood. He was ordained in 1999 and has had a host of duties in Gallup since that time. He is the pastor at St. John Vianney Parish and is superintendent of the Catholic Schools pro tem. He worked closely with Ursuline Sister Mary Matthias Ward for more than five years when she was director of the Sacred Heart Retreat Center in Gallup from 2003 to 2009.
Father Walker’s retreat was titled “After the Year of Faith, the Courage to Hope, the Challenge to Love.” Here are pictures from his afternoon session on March 12.
