Reflective Moments with Angela November 2021

By Sister Marietta Wethington

Do you think November is a special month? I do. Let me tell you why. It opens with a day we call All Saints Day – a day we celebrate those who have gone before us who have led holy lives yet have not been canonized – our parents, grandparents, siblings, community members and good neighbors. The next day is All Souls Day – a day we celebrate those who have gone before yet may still need more purification before entering eternal glory.

Another reason is because we celebrate Thanksgiving day – a day for counting our blessings and being grateful. Or is it a day for overeating and watching football? Hopefully, for most of us, it is a day of good balance. There must be room for both.

For many it is a day when families gather because they enjoy being together. That has been my experience of the day. Yes, let’s make November a month of gratefulness.
