North American Ursuline Convocation 2013

The North American Ursuline Convocation is held every three years as an opportunity for all followers of Saint Angela to deepen ties with her and with one another. Almost 200 Ursuline sisters, associates, companions, Company members and friends gathered July 4-7 at the Crowne Plaza – Blue Ash Hotel in Cincinnati.

Keynote speakers were Sister Sue Scharfenberger, OSU, and Sister Catherine Bertrand, SSND, who explored the theme, “Angela’s Radical Gospel Vision, Expanding the Circles.”

Fourteen Mount Saint Joseph sisters and associates participated in the meeting. Sisters Michele Morek, Larraine Lauter and Michele Intravia were among the presenters of the 11 breakout sessions, which highlighted the facets of Ursuline influence in today’s world. Sister Martha Keller and Ursuline Associate Marian Bennett were members of the Convocation planning committee.

In addition to prayer, study and song, attendees were treated to either a Cincinnati Reds baseball game or a guided tour of the city.

How wonderful it is to see pictures of my dear friends from both Maple Mount AND Louisville! It would appear that “a good time was had by all!” And how appropriate was the name of Sr. Shellie’s presentation?! I am amazed to read about all the wonderful work she and the staff at the Sister Visitor Center have been doing in this town! Whether inside Louisville, inside the Washington, DC beltway, in the many states where you minister or as far away as Chile, know that all of you are loved and remembered in prayer daily!
