Sister Charles Marie Coyle

MAPLE MOUNT, Ky. – Sister Charles Marie Coyle, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph, died March 22, 2003, at Mount Saint Joseph. She was in her 74th year of religious life. She entered the community September 8, 1929, and was received into the novitiate March 19, 1930. She made temporary vows March 19, 1932 and perpetual vows March 20, 1935. Sister Charles Marie baptized Mary Cecilia Coyle, was the daughter of the late Charles Joseph and Mary William Hagan Coyle of New Haven, Ky. An educator for 60 years, she taught at Mount Saint Joseph Academy, 1968-72, in the Archdiocese of Louisville, and in Missouri. For 38 years, she ministered in New Mexico. Survivors include four half-sisters, Ethel Rita Gant of New Haven, and Sister Theresa Coyle, SL, Rose Marie Coyle, and Bernadette Downs, all of Louisville, nieces and nephews, and the members of her religious community.

Services were Wednesday, March 26, at Mount Saint Joseph Chapel, Maple Mount, Ky., with burial in the convent cemetery at Maple Mount. Glenn Funeral Home, Owensboro, was in charge of arrangements.
