Sister Charles Asa Williams, OSU

Sister Charles Asa Williams, 102, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph, died June 5, 2005, at Mount Saint Joseph, in her 84th year of religious life. She would have been 103 on June 7. She was a native of Owensboro, the daughter of the late William Asa and Catherine Stengell Williams.

An educator for 56 years, she taught at St. Columba and St. James schools in Louisville; and at St. Francis of Assisi School, St. Francis; St. Francis Xavier School; St. Catherine High School, New Haven; Holy Trinity High School, Fredericktown; St. Charles High School, Lebanon; and Marion County High School, Lebanon. She served as principal at Mount Saint Joseph Academy, Maple Mount and of Immaculate School in Owensboro. She also was outreach minister at St. Pius Tenth Parish, Owensboro.

Outside of Kentucky, she was a teacher at St. Bernard Academy, Nebraska City, Neb.; Sacred Heart School, Wynot, Neb.; and St. Teresa High School, Glennonville, Mo.

Survivors include one sister, Sister Agnes Catherine Williams, also an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph, nieces and nephews, and the members of her religious community.

The Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday, June 8, at Mount Saint Joseph, with burial in the convent cemetery.
