Sister Grace Swift grew up in Oklahoma, but it sounds like her sacrificing of candy during Lent was very similar to those in Kentucky. Here is her “Lent Remembrance.”
“I remember having a huge basket of candy that was untouchable during Lent. I’m not sure how I came to be in possession of it, but I hid it from my four brothers all that time. I showed it to them at noon on Holy Saturday.”
