Large group gathers to learn about deepening their prayer life

Ursuline Sister Cheryl Clemons welcomed nearly 70 people to Maple Mount for her reflection day March 28, 2026, titled “Deepening Our Prayer Life: Advice from the Four Teresas.” The day focused on learning about Saint Teresa of Avila, Saint Therese of Lisieux, Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross – better known as Edith Stein – and Saint Teresa of Calcutta, and what each can teach us about prayer.

The day featured opportunities for small group sharing, journaling, and individual spiritual direction. There was time set aside for how to deal with distractions that keep us from praying.

Sister Cheryl chose three cloistered Carmelite saints for her reflection day, and an apostolic saint in Saint Teresa of Calcutta. “Mother Teresa was actively engaged in spirituality. We can’t imitate her service, but she is a good model for active ministry,” Sister Cheryl said.

Numerous books were on display detailing the lives of the saints featured.
