Filling and compacting dirt is next phase for deconstruction project

With the debris from the deconstruction of the former Mount Saint Joseph Academy/Retreat Center now hauled away, the next step in the process is filling and compacting the area prior to sodding. The compacting must meet standards approved by an engineer on the premises.

This was the status of the project on May 23, 2023, with a large hole beneath the student shop/gift shop.
On May 30, 2023, a bulldozer shifts and compacts dirt to level the ground.
The bulldozer drives in reverse to smooth the dirt. An engineer has to oversee the compaction to make sure it meets specifications.
