The title for this Twilight Retreat is “Awaiting and Welcoming Peace with Thomas Merton; Advent Contemplation in A Seed, a Poem and an Essay”

The evening will be led by Father Brian Johnson. This Merton presentation will be timely and seasonal by focusing on the Advent themes of preparing and waiting for the Prince of Peace. Father Brian Johnson will be introducting some material about Merton’s writing on contemplation and prayer(waiting on God). He is so diverse in his writing gifts, so Father Brian  want to briefly look at how he handles teaching about prayer with one of his ‘seeds’ , one of his last monastic retreat talks, and of course a poem, ‘The Quickening of St. John Baptist’. He will highlight the date Dec 10 which is his death anniversary, so that brings in his final awaited peace after so much lifelong spiritual wandering and in the end even physically with his last year’s frenetic travels seeking monastic hermitage locations.

Relax after your day at work and join us for a presentation given by a priest or deacon. Dinner is at 6 p.m., with the presentation to follow, which will conclude by 7:30 p.m. It’s a time to learn; time to pray, and time to be alone with God! The cost is $20 per session if you pay in advance. It will be $25 if you pay at the door. The cost includes dinner. Register for Twilight Retreat
