Cherished Christmas Carols with Sister Jane Falke

We continue our Advent celebration by sharing favorite Christmas carols of the Ursuline Sisters, and the story behind why they love them. Sister Jane Falke said it was hard to choose just one, but she selected “Silent Night” as her favorite. Here she explains why.

“My father was a German Immigrant and ‘Silent Night’ originated in Germany. It was a nostalgia carol often sung in German. I like it too, because of the story of its origin. It was created by a German pastor to be played on a guitar after the organ in the church broke down. It speaks to me as something created out of necessity to carry on the meaning and celebration of Christmas.”

Here are two versions to enjoy, from Michael Buble and Pentatonix.
