From May 23-29, Casa Ursulina hosted a gathering of women preparing to be entrepreneurs in creating crafts for the international market.

The workshop was sponsored by HandCrafting Justice — an organization that provides access to Fair Trade markets for handmade goods created by enterprising women in the developing world.

The leaders for this event are internationally known artists who work with women throughout the world seeking to lift themselves and their families out of poverty. A project of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, HandCrafting Justice fosters self-reliance, ensures fair wages, and builds support networks.

In the photos below, women of Casa Ursulina, together with others from neighboring cities, work together with a team of leaders from Colombia. The participants learn about international trends and the use of natural resources in the creation of bright and attractive crafts that will be marketed by HandCrafting Justice.
